PRESENTATION

Porridge

Porridge is a typical English breakfast recipe; easy and quick: a sweet oat soup to start the day with the right charge of energy! Oat flakes are cooked in water, milk, and honey until creamy. This base can be enriched each time with different ingredients such as yogurt, fresh fruit, dried fruit, chocolate, coconut, or jam or with vegetables and eggs for a savory porridge. A complete and genuine food to sweeten waking up and to stock up on nutrients, fundamental for the well-being of both adults and children, workers and students. Customize the recipe to your liking, perhaps trying variations like the apple and hazelnut porridge or the blueberry and pistachio porridge, and enjoy a different version every day! After all, breakfast is or isn't the most important meal of the day?

Preparation

How to prepare Porridge

To prepare the porridge, pour the oat flakes into a saucepan 1 along with water 2 and milk 3.

Add salt 4 and honey 5, then cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring with a spoon or spatula 6. You should achieve a soft, non-sticky consistency.

In the meantime, prepare the garnishing ingredients: you can use strawberries, kiwi, chocolate, almonds, yogurt, honey, jam, etc... We propose this version: pour the porridge into bowls and garnish with yogurt 8 and strawberries 9.

Enhance with maple syrup 10 and dark chocolate shavings 11. Alternatively, you can opt for a version with berries and dark chocolate shavings, or with kiwi, almonds, raspberry jam, and honey. Let your imagination guide you and enjoy your porridge 12 right away!

Storage

It is recommended to consume the porridge as soon as it's ready.

Tips

If you prefer a creamy porridge consistency, it's better to choose extra-fine oat flakes, like those used in this recipe. Whole oat flakes, on the other hand, give the porridge a more rustic consistency, but in this case, it's advisable to soak them overnight.

Honey can be omitted or replaced with sugar or maple syrup, depending on the desired level of sweetness.

Cow's milk can be substituted with homemade oat milk or another plant-based milk of your choice.

You can vary the proportion between water and milk to achieve a result closer to your taste preferences!
