PRESENTATION
If you’re on the hunt for a fun and easy dessert, let me tell you, chocolate salami is the way to go. Seriously good. Italians call it “salame di cioccolato,” and it’s a classic at birthday parties. Shaped like a salami—hence the name—but it’s packed with chocolate, cookies and sometimes nuts or fruit. And look, adding coffee makes this coffee-infused chocolate salami really pop. It gives it that rich depth that just pairs so well with dark chocolate.
All over Italy, you’ll find different spins on this treat. Like, in the north, they might throw in dried cherries, while down south, orange zest is the thing. And the texture? It is crunchy from the broken cookies. Super tasty. And pretty much like a mosaic of flavors in every bite. Best part? This is a no-bake chocolate dessert—no oven needed. Perfect for when it’s warm out or just hanging with friends and family.
In Italy, this chocolate salami with coffee often shows up at birthday parties and family gatherings, alongside hits like tiramisu or chocolate cake. Coffee and chocolate together, they just share those deep, bold notes. Really, it makes a simple treat something special. No eggs here means everyone can dive in without worry. And you still get that moist, creamy texture. Which is great.
Some folks add pistachios or hazelnuts for extra crunch, or even swap in biscotti for a more rustic feel. Slice it up—it looks like a real salami. Kids love that. Feeling adventurous? Pair it with Italian coffee cookies or a scoop of gelato. No question, Italian chocolate salami is laid-back but big on flavor. Perfect for sharing. It’s a great way to enjoy the comfort of traditional Italian sweets with a twist that’ll definitely impress your guests.

How to prepare Chocolate salami with coffee
To make the chocolate salami with coffee, first prepare the coffee with a moka pot: you will need 70 g. Chop the dark chocolate with a knife 1 and melt it in a bain-marie or microwave 2, then roughly crumble the cookies with your hands 3.
Put the softened butter in a bowl, add the powdered sugar 4 and mix well with a whisk 5. At this point, pour in the melted, slightly cooled chocolate 6,
the coffee at room temperature 7, and the unsweetened cocoa powder 8, and blend everything together with the whisk. Finally, add the crumbled cookies 9
and incorporate them into the mixture with a spatula 10. Pour the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper and shape it with your hands into an elongated form 11, then roll up the parchment paper to wrap it completely and twist the ends to seal it 12. Place the roll in the refrigerator and let it firm up for at least 2 hours.
After the chilling time, remove the parchment paper 13 and dust with powdered sugar 14. Your coffee chocolate salami is ready to be served 15!
